Students will take on the role of an agent of the Coastal Commission and respond to a letter requesting a permit to build a system of breakwaters to block active waves from the northwest and the southwest.

Students will become familiar with the concepts of "Niche" and "Tropic Level," research the Surf Zone Ecosystem, analyze a beach food web, and create a portfolio and essay related to the activities.
