Using Podcasts to Develop ESL Students’ Listening & Comprehension Skills
This lesson shows students how to navigate some websites of major broadcasting networks in English, such as KQED, CNN, BBC, DW, ABC, and other websites. The lesson shows students how to search for podcasts by topic, such as news, science, nature, environment, technology, health, culture, music, art, business, sports, politics and so on. These podcasts can enrich the students’ listening repertoire and develop their aural comprehension skills in both American English and British English. Podcasts can also stimulate students’ interest in learning about the world and develop their speaking communication skills through the discussion of content with classmates. Finally, using podcasts can enrich the students’ multimedia learning experiences beyond the classroom.
